How Do We End Division?

How does love succeed over hatred?

How does peace eliminate war?

How does decency overcome aggression?

How does community overcome tribalism?

Each person has to see their own way out of madness.

Each human being must find their own path to sanity.

We cannot control our neighbors.

We must accept our differences.

We must not tolerate divisiveness.

We need to respect one another.

We must not cause harm to each other.

Is this too much to ask of the human race?

Division - A Great Enemy

I think one of the great enemies that we face is division.

We are conditioned to think in terms of division.

We rarely see things as holistic, unified, interconnected.

Our language is divisive - me and you, we and they, black and white, liberal and conservative.

We have to start using holistic language.

We are human beings. All of us. That is a fact.

We all want food, clothes, shelter, a place to call home.

We all want a safe place to raise our children and enjoy our family and friends.

We all want to love and be loved.

We all want to explore, uncover mysteries, and create.

Anyone who wishes another human being harm in any form suffers from a sickness.

Those human beings must be healed by the whole tribe of humanity.

This is the manifestation of how dangerous this division is.

Watch the part of you that divides yourself from the "other".

It is the root of destruction.

Two Paths

There seems to be two paths.

One that is in harmony with life, and one that is destructive to life.

Every action that I make is rooted in one or the other.

Once taken, these paths have both subtle and extreme manifestations.

Small, seemingly insignificant actions, and actions that have a visible impact.

I don't see the impact of the small actions, unless I am internally silent.

Only when I am silent internally can I see if my actions are harmonious or destructive.

The intellect is never satisfied, the ego is always making noise.

It wants to see a fanfare, an explosion, a drama.

It wants more and more and more.

My heart is fulfilled by the subtle things.

It feels joy in silence. It feels connected. It delights in the smallest thing.

It enjoys simply being.

The intellect has become far too important.

It is a tool of limited vision, a restless state of incompleteness.

While my heart is the wisdom-doorway to life.

What Will I Create?

Who are we?

In the face of fear, division, uncertainty, who are we?

There is the unconscious reaction, which is the response of the primitive brain. Fight, flight.

Then there is possibility of a higher response, a conscious response, an intelligent response.

And what is that response?

Is it a response that serves humanity?

Or does it serve an ego?

Is it a response that moves toward unity?

Or does it seek to further divide?

Is it a response that dissolves conflict?

Or does it breed further hatred and war?

We are incredibly powerful.

With our words and deeds, both great and small, we are choosing and shaping our reality.

And what world would you want?

I'll tell you one of the things I am creating.

A world where everyone feels safe.
